Holmes+Lovecraft WIPThe act of forcing my hand to record these words requires an almost inhuman act of will. Yet I will continue, I must continue.   
For many years I have been the biographer of the consulting detective Sherlock Holmes. I have recorded our adventures, though not always to his liking, and brought them to light for public consumption. Yet this tale, these pages will not see the light of day, will be read by no other eyes but mine. It has been done before. There are those cases that have to remain in darkness and secrecy, for the security of the Empire, to prevent scandal in more than one of the royal houses of Europe. Doppelganger WIP“I suppose you’re here to kill me,” I leant back into my chair, my eyes scanning the surface of my desk. At first glance it appeared to be sadly free of anything sharp.   
“And whatever gave you that idea?” he was staring out the window but I saw, in his reflection, his eyes flick towards me. I shrugged, but realising that his gaze had already gone back to the view outside, I spoke again,   
“I don’t know. A basic grounding in films and trashy sci-fi maybe?” There was also a regrettable lack of blunt instruments in the office.

This happened just over one hundred years ago. And really, in the grand scheme of things, one hundred years is nothing. This planet and this sky: both have persisted for billions of years. In comparison one hundred years goes by in a blink of an eye.   
These events happened one hundred and eight years ago. Perhaps to them that is no great length of time as well.

The century was still young when they broke down the door. What they found first when they entered were yellowing, ancient pages, torn and scattered in the hallway, and thrown in great handfuls from the upstairs like confetti. & Changling

Solidarity!

We can go back to Celtic solidarity now - Wales v. Scotland is over, the score being 26-13 to Wales :)

Valentine's Day is Wales v. England. I think there will be a few disappointed Welsh wives on that day. I know that I shall be watching, possibly waving goodbye to the last traces of my feminity as I do so (I did wear a skirt while watching this match though, so maybe I'm okay).

In other news I've decided on what to do for my Business of Writing anthology plan. I've decided to do an anthology of graphic novels - specifically thise with British writers. Mainly because Alan Moore is British. And I love Watchmen.

I'm glad to see the Watchmen movie is coming out soon, despite Fox being an arsehole.
